Review] Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

Diary of a wimpy kid (Dog Days) highlights the aspects of age as it navigates Greg life as a teenager who is trying to fit in. He often cares about what others think as he is insecure about many things. The movie highlights friendship while also creating comedy. Greg and his brother Rodrick fight a lot which illustrates the common brother vs brother scenario. In some scenes there intercuts to show Gregs boredom during summer which represents the aspect of age as many teenagers are impatient. There are often close-ups of Gregs face to show his embarrassment. For example, there is a close up after Greg realizes he is in the ladies bathroom. This shows the embarrassment while also establishing the aspect of age as any little thing that happens is a big thing for a teenager. Greg also had trouble finding things he likes. This is also common for a teenager. His dad tries to take him to do many activities but nothing seems to work out.

Diary of a wimpy kid dog days also highlights the aspect of socioeconomic background. Greg is often comparing himself to others in the film. For example, Greg sneaks into the country club in order to be with his friends. He also does not let them know he is not a member until the very end. This shows how he often feels the need to fit in with other teens. Greg's family is middle class so he often does not get what he wants.
